We appreciate your interest in Westfields International School, (WIS) is not at all interested in people who chose to perpetuate lies and false stories about our school. Like any other school, and or business there are good areas and areas that are in need of minor improvements. WIS is always striving to improve, and from time to time will need to take drastic measures to improve. When we become aware of an issue we address the issue immediately. WIS just like many other schools and businesses have our supporters and our distracters. Rather than address each comment individually we will say, that we are in no way shape or form abusing any child, not now and not any time in the past. All of our teachers are held to the strictest and highest standards, and we take pride in our teaching staff. WIS appreciates the opinions of others, and the right to voice your opinion, however we also reserve the right to take the necessary legal action against persons and institutions that choose to perpetuate and initiate lies in an attempt to defame and sully our good reputation. WIS has been in business for almost 2 decades now, and along the way we have learned many lessons and we are always eager to listen, and to innovate based on constructive feedback from our parents and students. WIS however is not at liberty to respond to disgruntled teachers, and envious competitors who are attempting to do harm to our good name and harm our brand. Please understand that WIS extensive legal support team will be regularly reviewing sites that perpetuate false negative comments and derogatory inflammatory comments about WIS, our teaching methods, teachers, and our students. Thank you for your opinion, and we wish you all the best in all you do.
This is another public threat made by Wis. WIS is not at liberty to respond to disgruntled teachers, and envious competitors who are attempting to do harm to our good name and harm our brand. Please understand that WIS extensive legal support team will be regularly reviewing sites that perpetuate false negative comments and derogatory inflammatory comments about WIS, our teaching methods, teachers, and our students. Thank you for your opinion, and we wish you all the best in all you do.
I am not a disgruntle teacher, but one of many disgruntle parents, whose child was cheated by WIS out of a decent education.Have you been to a proper international school? If you had ever been to a proper international school, you would clearly recognize one, piss wis is a joke. You change teachers, like I change my socks .
We at WIS appreciate you taking the time to write your response. However if you have a problem with WIS it is best that you take up your issues with WIS and not resort to your internet attacks. As far as your comment about “many disgruntled parents,” we have thousands of happy parents and less than a handful of complainers that dislike everything and anything we do. As far as a “Proper International School.” We are in the process of getting our official “International title”. And your comment about changing teachers, like you change your socks, we have had the majority of our teachers for over 5 years, and many over 10 years, I certainly hope you change up to 12 years our socks more often than that. In addition, your ridiculous claims in your post will be followed up with our legal team. You should spend less time wasting your time online with lies and negativity and more time enjoying your freedom, slander and Internet libel are punishable with 6 to 12 years in Philippine prison. Next time, think before you speak. As far as disgruntled parents, if you knew half as much as you thought you do, then you would also know that a proper educations begins at home with the parents. Teachers facilitate the learning, and the two biggest factors in the proper education of children are parents’ involvement and teachers. WIS has fully qualified and experienced teachers who have a solid track record of success. We did our part, sounds to me like there was a missing piece to this puzzle, one WIS had nothing to do with.
So this was your response to a parent? You should spend less time wasting your time online with lies and negativity and more time enjoying your freedom, slander and Internet libel are punishable with 6 to 12 years in Philippine prison.
The older British man at wis Tom Dunn is in charge of student discipline at Westfields. Mr. Dunn can be seen around town drinking late into the evening, and smells of cigarettes and beer. This is the discipline officer mind you! Perhaps, he should discipline himself. You can see his picture displayed proudly on the official school website.
This school is bad for your child's educational future. There is a high teacher turn over, except for the Principal Volet and her cronies, that are head teachers. The HR office is also very unapproachable the head of HR Rayna, ( I think was her name)is very rude and arrogant. The teachers and students drink and party together at this pretend school.
In governing private schools by Minerva Zamora-Arceo There is an ongoing talk about the status of private schools in the province and how they are being run in accordance to the existing educational policies in the country. So much has been said about the alleged favoritism or unprofessional practices in several private schools but seldom parents come out in public to share their sad stories and experiences. Recently though, Punto was invited in a press conference where a group of teachers and parents presented an alarming story about Westfields International School in Angeles City. Lilian A. David, a resident of Angeles City, filed a complaint before the Department of Education (Dep Ed) last April 2, 2009 regarding the alleged favoritism and malpractice of Westfields administration. In her complaint, David claimed that the school deprived her daughter, Dale Arehl A. David, of her rightful claim as being the Grade 6 class valedictorian for the school year 2008-2009. She was not even awarded anything despite the fact the she garnered the highest academic general average in her class. According to Lilian, her daughter was a consistent A student as attested by 10 of her teachers at Westfields. Based on the records of Westfields International School for 2008-2009, Arehl obtained a general average of 96.74 percent making her the top among her class. However, two days before their graduation last March 25, 2009, Lilian was told by the grade school vice principal, Myla Diano, that her daughter is not the class valedictorian. Lilian said that the worst part of it was the fact that her daughter was not given any single award despite her excellent performance. But the ironic part is, Arehl was asked to deliver a “speech of thanks” although she was not given a copy of the programme prior to the event. During a deliberation among the Grade 6 teachers and re-computation of the students’ grades, majority of the Grade 6 teachers allegedly agreed that Arehl should have been named as the valedictorian because she gained the highest grade. But the principal, Violeta De Jesus, allegedly insisted that the decision in favor of another student was final. So despite the protests from the teachers, the parents of Arehl and despite the glaring fact that she garnered the highest academic general average in her class, Arehl got nothing. And after the brouhaha, eight of the Grade 6 teachers who supported Arehl were allegedly asked by the principal to file resignations as “graceful exit” from the school. In an interview with one of the teachers, Christian Joy Carillo also known as Teacher Cyan, said that their annual contract with Westfields ended March 30, 2009. Sadly, the principal administration asked them to file resignations and refused to renew their contracts. All the eight teachers are now resigned from Westfields International School. Meanwhile, the complaint filed by Lilian before DepEd was referred by the national office to DepEd Region 3. They have not heard anything from the region so far. In her complaint, Lilian said “this whole incident made a big impact to my very young daughter…it affected her trust in others…she is less motivated…instead of her graduation being memorable, it was traumatic.” She added that the anxiety and suffering of their family is “immeasurable” and asked DepEd to rectify the said “injustice.” What bothers me about this story is the fact that Westfields International School is one of the biggest if not the top schools in the province in terms of high standards in education. According to Lilian, they were getting more information about other families with the same bad experience. If the David case is not an isolated one, then the DepEd should act fast on this complaint if only to prevent such incident from becoming a precedent in the same school or in other private schools as well. Parents move heaven and earth just to provide the best education for their children but with experiences like this, it is truly depressing to think that we have a government that provide less priority to educational standards and ethics. Not only the DepEd is asked to check the policies of Westfields and other private schools in relation to their policies and guidelines for excellence awards or incentives. The local government and the Congress are also asked to review our existing laws on private school administrations from the issues on tuition fees, regulatory charges, performance ratings, grading system and ethical practices. Lilian said they used to live in Netherlands but because of her willingness to instill among her children the Filipino and Kapampangan values, she opted to enroll her children to Westfields. But as she said, “sadly, this is what my daughter gets.” He other daughter, a high school student is also enrolled at Westfields. But she plans to transfer them to Manila by June. Although we cannot blame them, it is still disappointing to see our kabalens look for other schools outside Pampanga just to seek better options for their children’s education. Too bad
:( oh dear is that really true?
FRAUD! Very unprofessional when it comes to dealing with students/parents conflicts. Utterly disappointing to discover that some of the teachers go out with the students and drink! Bullying is rampant, the parents of these children who are being bullied are ignored, not prioritized unless you have money and a generous donor!!! Shame on you W.I.S. I do not recommend this so called international school. Save your money.
Falsifying student grades for a few pesos is quite normal at this pretend school.
The court case filed against the Principal, vice principal and head teacher are still on going. The charges consist of falsifying student grades and child abuse.Foreign parents also work at this school for, tuition fee discounts even though they are not qualified teachers or have the proper visa to work.
is the case still ongoing? wtf i just heard. I enrolled my two kids here... So far, they enjoy going to school...
The Administrators and teachers are unqualified to work at real American International Schools.
All of the teachers and Principal are locally employed Pinoys. What makes this school International?
The Principals pending court case details can be found on : Balibago.org/comprehensive information about Balibago dated on 30/Nov/2009 "quoted " from the Pampanga Sun Star. One would think that the Principal and her cronies would be put on academic probation until a favorable decision has been ruled by the court appointed judge?
Why do school calls themselves International schools when in fact they are not? Anyway I think that it is false advertisement and just silly.
All true sad to say.
I'm planning to enrol my kids here, but i was confused when i saw this! I just want to know if its true?-Westfields International School is not a REAL International school. They only teach up to grade 10 then students must further there education elsewhere. The teachers are all local Filipino teachers which means they graduated in the 10th grade (16 yrs old) The school has bad facilities run down, aircons that blow hot air. The Principal Vice Principal and head teacher have a on going court case (at Pampanga regional Trial Court,Pampanga) over fraud documents, changing grades and child abuse. Do not send your child to this school unless you want them to learn the Filipino language by crappy exploited, miserable teachers. Westfields Pampanga, Philippines is a FAKE school.
THIS SCHOOL IS CLEARLY NOT A INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL !
Some of the students might be International but the teachers are Filipino's.
The court case is still on-going in Pampanga!
